Northview Bank Lends in Carlton County 

A large rural county just west of Duluth, Carlton County is home to Jay Cooke State Park and the 1,300 acre Kettle Lake State Wildlife Management Area. The county’s population is a little over 30,000 including the towns of Barnum, Carlton, Cloquet, Cromwell, Kettle River, Moose Lake, Scanlon, Thomson, Wrenshall, and Wright. Cloquet is the largest city with nearly 11,000 people. If you’re looking for hunting land, bare land, or a secluded cabin in the woods, Carlton County would make a great choice. 

Recreational opportunities in Carlton County run from golf to whitewater rafting to the annual Polka Fest held at the Black Bear Casino/Resort.

Notable lakes in Carlton County include Big Lake, Chub Lake, Cole Lake, Eagle Lake, Fond du Lac Reservoir Lake, Hanging Horn Lake, Hay Lake, Kettle Lake, Lower South Island Lake, Moosehead Lake, Park Lake, Perch Lake, Tamarack Lake, and Thomson Reservoir Lake. The wild and scenic Saint Louis River runs through the northeast part of the county, running through Cloquet before it enters Jay Cooke State Park. Like many of the lakes in Carlton County it has good fishing for walleye, northern pike, and smallmouth bass. Wildlife like wolves, bobcats, lynx, beavers, otters, eagles, moose, bear, and deer are commonly seen in the area.
